Forward to the Past

Her new environment continued to surprise her.
"Seriously?" she looked at Shamila. "I never liked these..."
"Humor me," the Indian woman smiled and pushed the door open into a huge hall filled with trampolines.
Two hours later a thoroughly exhausted, laughing Maddie staggered out into the street.
"That was... different," she turned serious. "I used to be terrified and bored by places like that..."
"And now you know it wasn't you. It was people you were with. Early onset empathy does a lot of damage. Reclaim whatever of your childhood you still can. Relearn who you are, then move forward."
